How IFTA works in Oregon
Oregon is an IFTA member jurisdiction. Qualified motor carriers report Oregon miles and fuel on quarterly IFTA returns through their base jurisdiction—often the Oregon Department of Transportation if Oregon is your base.
Note: Oregon also operates a separate weight-mile tax program for certain commercial vehicles. IFTA covers fuel tax; weight-mile is a separate obligation. Confirm which programs apply to your operation with Oregon DOT.
Who reports Oregon miles on IFTA
Carriers with an IFTA license must include Oregon miles when qualified vehicles operate in Oregon during the quarter. This includes north–south I-5 traffic, Portland metro distribution, and east–west routes over the Cascades.

Pacific Northwest routing tips
Runs between Oregon, Washington, and California are common IFTA scenarios. Log each trip's full route so jurisdiction splits at state lines are accurate—not estimated at quarter-end.
